The new sculpting school in Lu Lette, which opened in December 2000, located in the "new" lower part of town at the bivio - the intersection with the road to Manoppello.  The school was funded by Regional and Provincial funds to insure that the tradition of stone carving is passed to a new generation by the present-day masters of the art.

The course consists of 800 hours of study: 400 hours of theory and practice, 400 hours of work with a master stonecarver.  Course modules include the history of art; the history of sculpture and stone craft in Abruzzo; techniques of design and representation; restoration; minerology and geology; techniques of working with stone; tools; safety in the workplace.  There is room for up to 15 students, and the faculty consists of experts in theory, craftsmen, and instructors from the university and academies.
